Computer Connectivity

Computer Connection Setup:-
Fist, I am going to show how to connect a computer, I am going to show the different parts of the computer, which is the RAM card, Graphics card, Sound Card and the Network Card. After connecting the computer together, I am then going to connect the power supplies of the computer, which is the input and out devices that are the Computer monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The image above shows all the components for the computer, which I will be connecting to the computer tower, I will be showing the RAM card, Graphics card, Sound card and the Network card.

The image above shows the main parts for the computer to work, the keyboard, mouse, monitor and the tower itself.

Connecting the RAM card:-
I am first going to show how to connect the RAM card, I first pick up the RAM card, the picture below shows what is inside of the computer, there is circuits and wires among other thing to make the computer work.

This image shows me holding the RAM card and pointing to the RAM slot, this is where the RAM card needs to be. In this image you can see there is three RAM slots, if I had another two RAM cards then I could have out in the RAM slot and made the computer much faster than usual.

The above image shows me inserting the RAM card into the RAM slot; I had to align the RAM card into the slot and then I had to push down the RAM card into the slot. Until the RAM card is firmly in place, then I make sure that it is in the slot and I then lock the RAM card into the slot by bringing the lock upwards, so that the RAM won’t come out.

Connecting the Graphics card:-
Now I am going to show how to connect the graphics card, I pick up the Graphics card, which you can see in the image below and I am going to do the same as I did with the RAM card but I’m not going to put it in the RAM slot, I am going to put the Graphics card in the Graphics slot. The Graphics card slot is the one I am pointing to, the green colour base slot.

Here shows an enlarged image of the Graphics card and the Graphics card slot, without having a graphics card, then you won’t be able to see the real quality of the image or won’t see the image at all. The Graphics card makes the resolution of the image much better, when playing games on a PC you would be able to see every detail of the game. That’s if the resolution is on at the highest setting.

The image above show the Graphics slot (Top left) and the Graphics card (Top right), I have to do the same thing I done for the Ram card, which is to align the graphics card on to p of the Graphics slot.

The above image shows me inserting the Graphics card in to the Graphics slot. I have to align the Graphics card above the Graphics slot and then push down the graphics card into the slot, which the RAM slot there is no locks, so once the Graphics card is f securely in place, I then screw two screws to hold down the graphics card.

Connecting the Sound card:-
Now I am going to connect the Sound card to the computer, so far I have connected the RAM card and Graphics card, the Sound slot is next to the Graphics slot, if I didn’t have a Sound card, then I won’t be able to hear sounds from the games I play or from movies I watch.

The image above shows me holding the Sound card and pointing at the Sound slot of where the Sound card needs to go.

I am pointing at a white PCI slot, there is two PCI slot, the Sound card can go into any of the white PCI slots as long it is the same length as the Sound card.

The sound card can go to any of the white PCI slots, but I am going to put the Sound card next to the Graphics card slot.

The above image shows me pushing down the Sound card into the Sound slot, to do this I had the Sound card in my hand and then I aligned the Sound card over the Sound slot and push down the card into the slot. I then check if the card is firmly in place, now the Sound card is connected to the computer.

Connecting the Network card:-
Now I am going to connect the Network card to the computer, the Network card, once connected to the computer would let me have an internet connection, I have connected all of the main components of the computer, which are the RAM card, Graphics card and the Sound card, now I am going to connect the last main component for the computer which is the Network card.

This image above shows me holding the Network card and pointing to the other white PCI slot, that is where the Network card is going to go.

The Network card can go into any other White PCI slot as long if it is the same length as the Network card. The Network card could have gone into the first white PCI slot, (the one next to the Graphics card slot) , but the Sound card is in the first White PCI slot.

The image above shows me inserting the Network card into the white PCI slot, I had to make sure that Network card is aligned with the slot and then I pushed down to insert the card. Without the network card, I would not be able to connect to the internet; this is one of the most important components of the computer.

The image above shows all the main components inserted in the computer, the components are:

1) Ram card

2) Graphics card

3) Sound card

4) Network card

Those four cards are the most important pieces for inside a computer.

Now I going to fix up the tower and screw it so that the inside of the computer doesn’t get dusty.

The image above shows that I am putting the computer cover back on, to protect the wires and the circuit boards and protect people that are going to use the computer.

If there wasn’t any cover on the computer tower, anyone can get hurt from it by sparks, live current running through the wires etc.

The image above shows me properly fixing on the case back to the computer tower, I had to level the case with the tower and then push down onto the computer tower, and after doing that I had to slide the case to lock into the computer tower.

Now all the components inside the tower are safely placed and the tower is safely fixed to the computer tower.

Now I am going to connect the computer devices and the computer power supply.

Ethernet connection:-
Now I am going to connect the Ethernet cable to the computer and to the phone socket, the image below shows me holding the Ethernet cable, it is one medium sized cable. One side is going to be connected to the computer tower itself and the other side is doing to me connected to the phone socket.

An Ethernet cable is for connecting to computer, routers, hubs etc, this is for connection to the internet, without this cable, I wouldn’t be able to go on to the internet and research on the thing i need to for my course that I am studying.

The above image shows me have one part of the Ethernet cable and placing the Ethernet cable into the computer tower, for me to connect the Ethernet cable into the computer tower i have to push the Ethernet cable into the computer’s port.

One side of the Ethernet cable is connected, which is the Ethernet cable connected to the computer tower.

The above image shows me about to connect the other side of the Ethernet next to the phone socket; this is where the Ethernet is going to be connected.

One the Ethernet is connected, and everything else is connected I will now have an internet connection.

The image above shows me connecting the Ethernet cable into the phone socket, the other side of the Ethernet cable is connected to the computer port, after this side of the Ethernet cable is connected and the computer is up and running, I will then be connected to the internet.

Connecting the Keyboard:-
Now I am going to show how to connect the keyboard to the computer, a keyboard is a input device, it has particular functions keys such as the tab key, ESC (Escape ) key and the arrow keys. There are also different types of keyboards with customized keys.

The image above shows me holding a normal keyboard, in my other hand is to connect the keyboard to the computer. I am going to connect the keyboard to the back of the computer tower.

Now I am going to connect the keyboard to the computer, I put the keyboard down and I have the keyboard connection in my hand.

The image above shows where I am going to connect the keyboard, I am going to connect the keyboard by pushing the keyboard connection into the port so that it can work.

The image above shows me connected the keyboard connection into the computer.

When the computer starts up, the keyboard will start working, there are two different types of keyboard connections, one is the one you can see in the image and the other type is USB.

Instead of have the connection type you can see in the image, there are also USB keyboard connections.

Connection the Mouse:-
Now I am going to connect the mouse to the computer, a mouse is a device that controls the movement of the pointer on the computer screen, as someone moves the mouse, the pointer of the screen movies in the same direction you move the mouse. A standard mouse can have 3-4 buttons for different thing on the program.

The image below shows me holding a mouse, and in the other hand I have the mouse connection, I am going to connect the mouse to the computer, as before when connecting the keyboard. The keyboard connection was purple to indicate that it is for the keyboard only; the mouse connection is green to indicate that it is for mouse’s only.

Like the keyboard there are two types of connections, one is the one you can see below and the other is USB connection. The USB connection would go into a USB port. Now I am going to connect the mouse to the computer by pushing the mouse connection into the port of the computer.

The above image show where I am going to connect the mouse, the mouse connection is above the keyboard connection, as you can see in the image, it shows that the mouse connection is a green colour connection and the keyboard is a purple colour connection.

To connect the mouse into the port I have to push the mouse connection into the port for the mouse to work when the computer starts up. When the computer starts up, then I will be able to use the mouse and move the pointer in any direction I want.

The above image shows me connecting the mouse connection into the computer port, now when the computer starts up, I will be able to move the mouse. The mouse connection is the green coloured connection, which is on top, the bottom purple colour connection is the keyboards connection.

Connection the Monitor VGA:-
Now I am going to connect the monitor to the computer, Computer monitors are kind of the same as TV’s but for the display of the computer. There are some television set can be used as computer monitors and it’s the same for PC monitors. For the television to be used as a computer monitor, then the TV has to have a computer output. Just like a TV, a computer monitor has the same features as the TV, what I mean is that PC monitors has 1080p, 1080i etc and the PC monitors can also be in HD to use as a TV i.e. watching movies.

The image above shows the computer monitor and in my hand is the VGA connector; I am going to connect the monitor to the computer.

The other end of the VGA connector is fixed onto the monitor.

The above image shows me about to connect the VGA connector to the computer, which is where I have to connect the VGA monitor connector; it connects straight into the graphics card. For the connector to be connected to the computer I have to push it into the port and then I have to screw the pins to keep it from getting lose.

The image on the left shows me connecting the VGA connector to the computers port for the monitor.

For the VGA connector to be connected, I had to align the connector with the port for the monitor and then I pushed the VGA connector into the port.

Even though the monitor is now connected to the computer, it isn’t fully connected though. I need to screw the pins to make sure that the VGA connector doesn’t come lose.

Now that the VGA monitor connector is connected to the computer, I just need to screw the pins into the computer.

I am screwing the pins to the computer because the monitor will now be attached to the computer, and if I didn’t screw the pins in, then at any point the monitor can become lose, the image above shows me screwing the pins to the computer, so that the monitor doesn’t become lose.

Connecting the Tower:-
Now I am going to connect the tower to have live current, so the computer can be ready for use, I have connected everything that need the computer to work and be ready to use, all it needs now is a power supply.

The image below shows me holding the power supply cable, half of the cable is meant to go inside the computer tower and the other side is going to go in a power plug socket. The PC cable is going to give power to the computer for the computer to be turned on when I press the button.

Because I have connected everything from the RAM cards, Graphics card, Sound card and Network card to having input devices such as Keyboard and mouse, now the last thing for the computer to work is that it needs power.

The above image shows where the connection port for the computer cable needs to go, for this to be plugged in; I would need to push the computer cable into the connection port and makes sure that it is in properly.

The image on the left shows that the computer connector is connected to the computer, now I have to connect the other half of the cable for the computer to start working, I pushed the computer connector into the computer port and I firmly made sure that it is connected.

So that it won’t become lose, if the computer was on and I was doing my work and because I didn’t check if the cable was in properly, then the cable came out and the work I had done would be lost.

The image above show the other side of the computer cable, this side of the cable now needs to be connected to the power socket, this image shows me holding the plug, and I am going to plug it in the switch

The above image shows that I have plugged in the computer cable and I am turning the switch on so that it is ready to use the computer.

Now that the plug is in the socket and the switch is on, the computer is ready to be used. It has the main components that are needed to work and start up.

The above image shows the computer is connected up, it has the four main components inside the computer which are the RAM card, Graphics card, Sound card and the Network card. It also has other main components such as the keyboard, mouse and monitor and the computer is connected to the interne, this computer is now ready to be used by anyone.
